A recap is the short message confirming an agreed deal: parties, product, quantity, price, delivery. Deal Capture reads recaps wherever they arrive and puts each deal in the Inbox. Nothing enters your book until you review it and click Create contract.
Available when the Deal Capture module is turned on for your workspace. Ask your workspace admin.

Where deals come from

  • Email: recaps and contracts sent or forwarded to your workspace’s email inbox. See Email ingestion.
  • Copilot on Home: paste a recap, optionally after /trade.
  • WhatsApp: forward a recap to Mercora and reply yes when it asks to create a deal.
  • Microsoft Teams: paste or forward a recap to Mercora, or post it in a channel an admin set to Deal capture.
The same recap sent twice becomes one item. The Copilot captures message text only: for a recap inside a PDF, upload the file. Freight quotes and futures fills go to Freight rates and Hedging instead. For example, on Home:

Review a captured deal

1

Open the item in the Inbox

The card shows the source message next to the extracted terms.
2

Check the parties

Mercora works out the buyer, the seller and which side is your company, and flags your side when it guessed it from who wrote the message.
3

Correct the fields

Fix anything under Extracted fields. For the recap above, check 27 MT, USD 565/MT, CIF Singapore and L/C at sight. A correction sent with your WhatsApp yes isn’t applied: make it here.
4

Create the contract

Click Create contract. The line beside the button says exactly what it creates: a contract (with the Trades module on, wrapped in a new deal by default), or, without the Contracts module, a new trade. Or click Dismiss to drop the deal.

Push the deal to your CTRM

If your workspace is connected to Agiblocks, a CTRM (commodity trading and risk management system), Create contract also creates the contract there. Buttons name it by its vendor, Agiboo. This needs External systems sync with Deal Capture sync on, and the External sync permission under Deal Capture. Mercora checks in advance, without writing anything, what Agiblocks needs. The card flags missing fields under Blocked by:, the counterparty it will select, and any similar contracts already there. Then:
  • Create contract creates it in Agiblocks, then in Mercora. If Agiblocks needs anything more, nothing is created anywhere and the card says why.
  • Skip Agiboo records it in Mercora only; push it later with Sync to Agiboo.
  • Already in Agiboo? Link it instead links a contract someone keyed in by hand, after checking it can be this deal.
  • For a possible duplicate, choose This is the one or Not a duplicate.
The push takes about a minute; the item waits under Syncing to Agiboo, and returns to Needs you with the reason if it fails. See External systems.

Permissions

Your role needs Deal Capture (edit) to capture and create deals. This is separate from access to the Contracts book. If the module is turned off, items already in the Inbox stay available to finish. See Roles and permissions.
